At A Way Out, we are blessed with two fantastic Family Support Workers who give tailored support to all clients on their caseload. Taking referrals from other projects within the organisation, the RISE Families Service adds an extra layer of support around our clients and their families by working alongside parents, children or both to help each person to overcome challenges and barriers that they face so that they can walk into a future full of our three core values of Love, Hope, and Freedom.

For our Family Support Workers, no two days are the same. When working with a parent, grandparent or other adult, visits take place in the community with a trip out for a cuppa, a walk and talk appointment, or within the family home. Our Family Support Workers offer support to adults through these appointments around their mental health and wellbeing, relationships and support to rebuild relationships if needed, improving their confidence and helping them to access additional agencies where needed. Practically, we support families with food and hygiene parcels and by accompanying them to appointments where support with this is requested. When working with children, our Family Support Workers can provide support in schools, in the community and in the family home to help boost their confidence, support them with any mental health challenges they may be experiencing and support around inclusion and promoting positive change. The aim of the work with both adults and children is to strengthen the family unit by giving each client the tools they need to identify their own goals and how they want to work to achieve them.
